Celebrate The Full Beaver Moon

fullmoonpostcard2

Tonight is a very special Full Moon! Farmer’s Almanac tells us that this month we’ll experience a Supermoon, and “it will be nearer to Earth than it’s been since January 26, 1948! This Supermoon will have a dramatic effect on the tides and, for many people, November’s Full Moon will be the largest and brightest Full Moon of a lifetime.”

This moon was also traditionally known as The Full Frost Moon.

It will likely be too cold to take my dogs to our local off-leash ocean beach dog park ( Off Leash Area Edmonds) to enjoy exploring the beach during low tide. Instead, we’ll celebrate by bundling up and sitting outdoors to watch the moon, if it’s warm enough for me to handle it. (My dogs with their lush long fur will be fine, even if it were snowing!)

Tonight is a good time to think about all the people all over the world looking up at the sky to see this same Supermoon tonight. Imagine how many of them share similar hopes and dreams with you and me. (I’m guessing – peace, prosperity, happiness, health and safety?)

Dance in the moonlight, go for an evening drive if you don’t have a good view of the moon at your home. Try to capture a great photo of the moon, if you’re a photography buff. Let’s put our phones away and really be in the moment, reflecting on the moon, admiring it, turning off the lights in our homes to enjoy the silvery moonlight spilling in through our windows!
